Joy Kwakuyi

Founder & Director

Dr. Joy Kwakuyi, DNP, PMHNP-BC is a mental health expert, pastor, and bestselling author with decades of experience in Africa, Europe, and the USA. He is a board-certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Founder and Director of Faith Integrated Psychiatry, the Founder and Pastor of the Impact Chapel of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) (www.impactchapel.org), a Co-Founder and Director of the Marriage Mentoring Network (www.mmentoring.org), and the U.S. Country Director of the African Mental Health Association, all based in Tucson Arizona. Dr. Joy helps to optimize his clients’ psychosocial functioning and personal fulfillment through comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and individualized holistic programs that include psychotherapy, medication management, faith-based counseling, life coaching, and public speaking, while helping other mental health organizations to improve clinical and business outcomes. 

Dr. Joy holds five university degrees, including a bachelor’s degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana (1999), a master’s degree from the University of London (2005), a bachelor’s degree and a post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing from the University of Connecticut (2013), and a master of science degree and a doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of South Alabama (2014/16). 

He is the author of multiple bestselling books, including, The Ultimate Cure for Depression: Leveraging Science and Faith for Total Healing, and Ultimate Fulfillment: A Blueprint for Finding and Living Your Purpose and together with his wife, he recently co-authored the Perfect Joy Devotional Journal: The Ultimate 365-Day Companion for Your Christian Journey. His most recent books, The Ultimate Mental Healthcare Blueprint: Optimizing Patient and Business Outcomes Through Spirit-Soul-Body Integration and The Ultimate Pharmacy: Bible-Based Practices for Mental and Emotional Wellness are scheduled to be released during the first part of 2025. He resides in Tucson Arizona with his wife and children, and enjoys reading, brainstorming, and road trips.

Esenam Kwakuyi

Co-Founder & Practice Manager

Esenam Kwakuyi is a Christian Counselor and a Practice Operations Specialist with over a decade of experience in the healthcare field. She is passionate about creating a supportive and welcoming faith-based environment where our team can provide excellent mental health care and emotional support services to the Tucson community. Mrs. Kwakuyi also doubles as the Co-Founder and Ministry Facilitator of the Impact Chapel of the International Central Gospel Church, ICGC (www.impactchapel,org) and the Co-Founder and CEO of the non-profit Marriage Mentoring Network (www.mmentoring.org).

Esenam holds a Degree in Psychology with a specialization in Christian Counseling from Liberty University, a Diploma in Professional Sales Skills from the Earthnet Institute, and Certificates in many fields, including Effective Ministry from the Daniel Institute and Christianity Through Its Scriptures from Harvard University. She is a co-author of the Perfect Joy Devotional Journal: The Ultimate 365-Day Companion for Your Christian Journey and the upcoming book, The Ultimate Pharmacy: Bible-Based Practices for Mental and Emotional Wellness.

At Faith Integrated Psychiatry, Mrs. Kwakuyi manages the daily operations of our front and back offices, including, billing, accounting, payroll, financial oversight, and client services. She also supports a large section of our clients by providing the much-needed life coaching that they need while undergoing treatment with us. Supporting our team and helping transform lives through Christ-centered mental health support are two of the greatest blessings of her work. She and her family have been resident in Tucson since 2015 and she enjoys organizing interiors, interceding, and caring for the members of the church community.

ANN BRUNO

Mental Health Counselor

ANN BRUNO, M.Ed, CARC is a dedicated mental health professional specializing in co-occurring disorders and the author of the clinical workbook, Improve Relationships! What You Fix on the Inside Shows on the Outside. She works in collaboration with her partnering mental health provider in identifying, planning for, and carrying out evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental health disorders and addictions. Holding a Masters Degree in Education (M.Ed.) with a specialization in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Arizona and about 20 years of experience in this field, Ms. Bruno brings expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Behavior Modification, and Family Systems Orientation to our clinical team. 

Her vast experience working with internationally-renowned addiction treatment centers has given her the skills to take on cases, develop appropriate solutions, and work towards recovery in record time. In addition to certifications in addiction recovery and emotional intelligence coaching, her work focuses on assessing clients needs, discovering root causes of clients’ challenges, fostering therapeutic relationships, and guiding clients toward meaningful personal growth. Passionate about delivering effective, individualized care, Ann is committed to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges using clinically-proven counseling approaches and empathetic support.

Mary Ann Aguilar

Medical & Administrative Assistant

Mary Aguilar is a Certified Medical Assistant with 25 years of experience in this field. She obtained her Medical Assistant Diploma in 1995 and gained extensive experience at both the front and back offices areas in outpatient clinical settings. She completed the Health Occupations Program at Pima Community College in 2003 and received a Medical Billing and Coding Certificate in 2015 at the Tucson College of Business. Mary has always been passionate about helping others, which led to her career in healthcare.

Here at Faith Integrated Psychiatry, Ms. Aguilar handles the day to day duties in our front office. She warmly welcomes and schedules our new and existing clients, checks them in for their appointments, conducts basic medical and diagnostic procedures, and provides administrative support to our team. Please look forward to speaking to her when you do call and/or seeing her if you happen to drop in. According to Mary, “I am excited to be part of the Faith Integrated Psychiatry team. With so much experience in this field, I look forward to building professional relationships with our patients and assisting with our patients’ journeys to improved health and wellness.” Mary enjoys spending time with her sons and baby granddaughter, taking walks, and going on day trips to enjoy the beauty of nature.
